2013 vintage:
Ancient earth relates to the geology of the Eocene period around 50 million years ago deep underneath the vines of this single estate. This wine needs time. It's unashamedly full-bodied with densely packed inky tannins and a ball of rich dark fruits injected with licorice and cedary, vanillin oak. There is no room to move. Yet the there's an appealing voluptuousness. It's a style sure to resonate with fans of big reds.
